Configure LDAP directory locations and mapping rules

Configure LDAP directory locations and mapping rules

Connect your LDAP directory to Vizmo so your employees are added to the right locations automatically. You choose which locations receive directory users and, if you need to, filter them with mapping rules.

Before you start

  • You need to be a company admin with access to Company View.
  • Get the LDAP URL, Base Dn, Bind Dn and Bind Credentials from your directory administrator.
  • Make sure Vizmo can reach your LDAP server over the network. Your IT team can confirm this.
  • Each company can have one LDAP integration.
  • Availability: if this option is greyed out or missing, contact your Vizmo account manager.

LDAP is for syncing users from your own directory. If you use Microsoft Entra ID, see Set up SCIM provisioning with Microsoft Entra ID. If you use Google Workspace, see Connect Google Workspace Directory to Vizmo.

Add the LDAP integration

  1. Sign in to the Vizmo portal and switch to Company View.
  2. Open Integrations and select Add Integration. In the Available Integrations panel, select Add on the LDAP card.
  3. Enter the URL, Base Dn, Bind Dn and Bind Credentials.
  4. Under Select locations where this integration should work, choose at least one location. Choose Select All only if every location should receive directory users.
  5. Optional: to filter people for a location, choose Select Location to add rules and then Add Rule. Enter the LDAP attribute name (your directory administrator can tell you which), choose an operator and, if asked, a value. Use And or Or to join more than one rule.
  6. Select Add. A message confirms that the LDAP integration has been added and asks you to follow the steps to complete the setup.

Location Mapping Rules block with an example rule

When people appear in Vizmo

  • Vizmo syncs your directory every night at midnight, in your company's time zone.
  • New people appear under Directory > Employees after the next sync. Each person needs a valid email address in the directory.
  • A location with no mapping rule receives every directory user that is otherwise eligible.
  • A person who no longer matches a rule is removed from that location at the next sync. Employees created in Vizmo and people with an admin role are not removed.

Change locations or rules later

  1. Open Integrations in Company View and select the pencil icon on the LDAP card.
  2. Change the selected locations or mapping rules.
  3. Select Update. A message confirms that the LDAP integration has been updated.

You cannot change the Bind Dn or Bind Credentials after you add the integration, and changing the URL or Base Dn here does not save. To change any of these, contact support@vizmo.in.

Note: The Enabled switch on the LDAP card saves straight away, without waiting for Update. Turning it off does not stop the nightly sync at the moment. To pause syncing, contact support@vizmo.in.

Troubleshooting

  • "LDAP integration instance already exists for this company". Your company already has an LDAP integration. Edit it instead of adding another.
  • "Please fill all the required fields". Check that URL, Base Dn, Bind Dn and Bind Credentials are all filled in.
  • People are missing. Wait for the next midnight sync, then check the selected locations and mapping rules. Check that each person has a valid email address. If they are still missing, ask your IT team to check network access to your LDAP server.
  • More people than expected. A location with no rule receives all eligible directory users. Add a rule, and check that the rule uses the attribute names your directory actually returns.
